Possibly the profit margin is not good enough or they're not getting the sales, or the competition is too stiff... But its only a rumour at the mo....

Well, they've removed it from their product pages in the US and UK. You can only find it under archived products. I think there is a higher demand than supply but they only made a limited run of that model.
It really was an odd move for Canon; there just could not be a large enough target audience for them to make a large profit from that model and the cost increase over the normal 20D was excessive.
There were also a couple going on Astromart and astrobuysell recently.
