Does the equpiment you have let u get any closer? Or would like a barlow make the exposure time too long?

Thanks folks.

My FOV is small enough with a 6.3 reducer - its only 10 by 13 arcmin. If I remove the reducer and put on the 2.5 PowerMate,. the FOV goes down to 3 by 4 arcmin :shock: At that level, finding reference stars for astrometry is very tough with an 8" scope... Plus of course you have the longer exposures required and the increased reliance on tracking.

I used the Powermate on Jupiter many months ago now with mediocre results. I think a larger aperture (and larger CCD) is required.
