Photo of Comet SW3 - Mini Comets ! was created by Keith g
Hi all, I set out last night under clear, but very poor transparent skies to finally have a look at comet sw3 in the constellation Corona Borealis, it was very easy to find being very near Alpha CrB. I was only delighted when not one - but two fragments - brighter frag C and slightly dimmer frag B showed up :P These really are what you would call baby comets, they're tiny ! Fragment C was just WOW! a very bright nucleus, really starlike with a beautiful tail, but ever so small...

Here's a widefield shot showing both from last night, a pleasant night !
Try have a look for yourself, you'll like the view.

WOW Keith.....thats a beauty!!

I seen them last night through 10X50s. C is great but B looks to be dying.

What a wonderful image.

Nice image keith, saw them last night at about 11pm before fog spoiled our observing session. C was easy enough to find and definitely comet like, b to me just looked like a faint smudge, such a change since I observed it last in bright moonlight two weeks ago

Cheers

Wow! That is lovely. Especially considering the haze last night.

Spent a while looking at galaxies in Virgo + M81/M82 before the transparency deteriorated to nothing.

Got so wrapped up in it that I was shocked when I looked up from the scope to find that all but about 10 stars had disappeared. Still there were some lovely views until the haze crept in.

Nice going Keith! Is this just a standard shot through your tracked Canon? How long is the exposure?
