The Crescent Nebula in HA(R),G.B was created by DaveGrennan
Back to basics last night with the DSLR. Took a sequence of shots with the 80ED using a H-Alpha filter. I then took a normal colour image and used the blue and green channels combined with the HA(R) to make up this RGB image. This needs a bright monitor for best effect and to see the maximun extent of the nebulosity in this area.

Theres also a close up of NGC6888 which shows some structure.

Dave - excellent!
Looks like you sorted the vignetting? Tracking is bang on and the processing is super.
Hopefully, nebulas won't come up in the comp too soon...
Cheers

They are great images! You can just imagine the cloud expanding while you look at it!

Thanks for the comments guys.
Dave: i knew once I used 2" fittings the vignetting would be gone. I just need to get an extension tube now so I can use the 2" fitttings with the ATIK.
The nebulosity at bottom left is the outer extremities of the gamma cygni complex. I really didnt expect to get any of that given the time of year (not really that dark) and also the moon was there (not that bright) but still there. I underestimated just how good the HA filter would work.
I'm thinking that a 4x4 mosaic of the gamma cyngi region might be in order in august/september. That should be really something.

Dave.
