Nice image Tom, you caught the nebulosity very well, as it is a hard target to nail. Tracking is a bit off though (star trails.) And can I ask what colour processing did you do with it? There seems to be quite a lot of purple in those stars! The nebula itself looks realistic! I have yet to see it myself.

Seanie, yes the tracking is off. Was out doing some test imaging at our dark skies site. Just doing some test images with the new modified Canon 350D. I was actually surprise that I even captured this much of the Veil, as at the time it was very close to the horizon. Will have to go back and image again, if we ever get clear skies again. Been a long time since we have had clear skies here on the east coast of US.
Has for the purple color, I think alot of it is the nubulosity that extends outward but is very faint. Especially in the lower right of image. Processing done in Images plus and PS-CS. Also some of the purple color may be from trying to bring out the red and blue in the Veil. I still have a large learning curve to climb with the processing end.

Mount was rough polar aligned, and unguided. Will be trying guided images in the near future with the setup below at dark sites.

And this new setup at the house. Just put pier in about 3 weeks ago.

Nice setup there Tom,
Isn't tracking a pain 8) I love the colour,
Is that a home made pillar or something you bought in?

Keith, yes it is a 6" but not an APO. Meade AR-6. Saving up the pennies now for a Tak 150 OTA = 6" APO.

Dave, yes the pier is homemade and so is the pier plates. For more pics and information on this pier and my observatory: Ash Observatory
