1st attempt with the PST was created by albertw
Its not anywhere as good as the images that Michael and DaveG have posted. But I'm happy with it for a 1st attempt - at least its got prominences and some surface detail. For my second attempt I might even focus properly :-)

Anyway, heres my offering of 15 minutes worth of bracketing and 20 minutes of photosop!

That's not bad at all Al. Very good actually, considering it's your first attempt. Alot of the detail is there both on the disc and the proms, just a matter of coaxing it out with a little finetuning of the processing. I found that it required very different processing methods than I used normally use. You'll pick it up as you go along. Whatever else you do though, make sure you capture in RAW mode.
BTW, how did you finally manage to get the camera to focus? Hope you didn't break anymore wrenches! :)

Cracking stuff Al.

I'd be delighted with an image like that! A bit more practice and you'll be up there with the best!!

Well done!

Great image Al

More details on how you did it. Was it prime focus, afocal, e/p proj. Did u process the image seperately for proms and disc?????

I cant get an image out of the 350D at all!
