Summer Milkway over the Ocean was created by Keith g
Hi All, I'm just back from a short break, and I feel I have to post this one. On Wednesday night, I took a trip out to my favourite beach spot in Co Waterford and set up to take a few shots, we had the most transparent skies I have ever witnessed from a dark site during summertime in a long time, this is what the summer milkyway looked like over the Ocean as the red coloured first quarter moon set in the southwest shortly after this was taken. It was quite a sight!
18mm lens, Canon 300D, 500seconds exposure at F4, Enjoy,
Keith..

Stunning image Keith!
Just wondering, what are the two white streaks to the right of the image? Satellites?

Beautiful Image! Just wondering what sort of tracking system you use? It's probably fairly simple but I'll ask anyway! I have a 350D myself and I'm just beginning to tap into its potential!
I can't wait to experiment with it and hopefully catch a few meteors around the nights of the Perseids. There is a good article on photographing meteors in August's issue of Sky at Night Magazine.
Looking at your photo really gives us an idea of our location of the solar system within our galaxy. Amazing stuff!

Hi Keith,
What lens exactly is that you are using? The 18-35 that comes with the camera or did you get another 18mm lens?
Great Image.
Cheers,
~Albert

Fantastic image Keith !!
The tracking is bang on , the sea adds a great quality to it.
