Further more to Lunartic's post last week on M6 & M7, I got a chance to shoot these two from the Waterford coastline as well last week. Now, these two are quite hard to observe, even from the south coast, you gotta have really clear skies, at latitude 52 Degrees north, M7 only gets about 4 degrees up at maximum, M6 at about 6 degrees up when transiting the southern meridain at best.
So here's how it went, the sky was super clear, unusual for summertime, and I had to contend with a nearby setting half red moon, hence the crimson colour. I think it's ok, but, there's a lot of air above the sea, and some milkyway appears at top. I'll try for better next year....
Details: Starclusters M6 & M7, Taken on the night of August 2nd 2006 from Annestown, Co.Waterford, Canon 300D, 85mm f1.8 usm lens at f4.5, stack of six 2minute exposures, ISO 400, 10 dark frames, Deepsky stacker, ps7.

Hi Kieth,
Not a bad shot considering how low they were. Seems a tad over stretched to me (background too light).
Nice to see a astro photo with a horizon! Keep up the good work
Later,
Jed.

As Jed says, not a bad image at all. Pity about the moonlight interfering. Considering the conditions you did extremely well to get such a good image. The horizon really sets it off.
Well done!!
