MEADE LIGHTBRIDGE 12 INCH DOB. was created by pmgisme
I am considering buying a Meade Lightbridge 12 inch Dob.
(900 Euros from Telescope House in London.)
Looks good on paper.
Does anyone have any personal experience of this scope.
Thanks in advance.
Peter.

Tom Trusock wrote up a nice report on CloudyNights:

.
I usually find his reviews un-biased and informative.

Thanks Jeff,
I had a quick run through the review a minute ago.
Overall it looks good...pity about the springs though.
Trosock mentioned that a 16 inch may be in the offing.
I think I'll hang on and see what that monster is like before splashing out.
Thanks again,
Peter.

Peter --
I heard rumors that the 16" was already available (directly from GSO, not through Meade) in Australia. You might kick around some of the sites down there* and see if you can dig anything up.

It looks like a nice scope, I like the review given, its shows up the usual obvious dob mechanical issues, most of which I could live with or fix with a small bit of adjustment.
The one thing that cought my eye was that this is a F5 system, not ideal for planetary viewing, and barlows dont work well on newtonians like this.
I didnt realise it was the first mass produced truss dob, its a wonder it hasn't been done before.
I'd wait for the 16" if possible.
