I was lurking around Ursa Major last night having a lash at a Supernova search when I stumbled on M82 (as you do).

Very nice Dave, you did a good job of balancing the levels in this. M82 being so bright can be hard to get just right.

Cheers Dave. I've found that the longer your exposures, the easier the processing. I guess its obvious that for the fainter objects, the more signal you can capture, the better. And one 180 sec exposure is better than three 60 sec exposures.
One other point, and you may have this with the Atik, a non-cooled CCD operating at the balmy night-time temperatures we've seen recently is pretty noisy. Images I took last year at around 0 deg C were so much much better.
The time is ripe for a cooled CCD....
