First time pics was created by mikeanywhere
Hi everyone,
I thought I would post up a couple of shots I took last weekend up near Ballina, Co Mayo (Ireland).
I read the day before about how to take these kind of shots and with the weather being on my side I thought I would give it a try.
There are a lot fo things wrong with these and I know what they are and wont be doing them again. Hopefully the weather will allow me to take similar again in the future and when I do, I will let you know how it goes.

Mike - notwithstanding the minor errors, they are a superb first go. I hope you try again and if you fix the problems, you'll have us shouting for more!
Its rare that we get star trailed images (well, we get a lot but its not done on purpose ). I love the way you can capture that motion - it shows that we really our zooming through the heavens!
I'll look forward to more.
Cheers
Dave

Mike,
It is very rare that an astrophoto goes as planned the first time. One of my analemmas, for example, is onto its sixth (annual) attempt with no guarantee this one will turn out well.
Keep at it and improve slightly each new time out. Before you know it, you will have your procedure down pat and you will be zipping along.
Clear skies!

Well done Mike,
Thats a great first effort. Remember to give that a go on the night of a meteor shower and you might get lucky and get a bright meteor piercing your shot!!

Welcome Mike,
Great images!!, They would be really spectacular if you had been able to get some sort of tracking going, looks like you have some great skies there, not alot of light pollution !.
