Adapters for Canon EF Lenses was created by Keith g
Hi all, I've been considering lately expanding my number of lenses, trouble is my wallet has gone the other way
I hear that there are adapters that can be used with non canon ef lenses to fit the 300D. I have lots of lenses from my old film days - these are pentax k lenses, It would be great if I could get an adapter to attach to these pentax k lenses and fit to the 300D - or is it that simple????
Thanks,
Keith..

Hi Keith,
Have seen some adaptors like that over the years but I as far as I remember they kill the AF functions on the lenses. Not sure if it's feasible to have adaptors to get the full range of functions available on newer cameras.
e.g. look at the older Sigma lenses. Many of them need to be rechipped to even work on newer cameras even if using the same mount.

Keith as long as the lenses don;t try to interface the AF or aperture mechanisms they would be ok. The problem arises when the camera tries to change the aperture or use the autofocus. This invariably leads to an 'err 99' message. When this happens you have to power off/on to reset the camera.
I've seen this happen on a few occassions. Turn off AF and don't change aperture and it should be ok.

Well, I use manual focus, so Auto focus would not be an issue. I'll do a google...

Whoa! even if it does fit is it worth that much? thats also alot of cash! ive seen nice lenses, fixed aperture say 15mm, for about the same prics for canon!
