The Hyades Starcluster last night

Well winter is well and truly in! I drove to my nearest dark site last night under cold skies to shoot the lovely Hyades starcluster in Taurus. I'm sure all of you have seen this cluster in binoculars, with Aldebaran, the brightest red star not actually being a member of the cluster, just closer to earth. Also there is a starcluster at left NGC 1647, which seems to be much further away, it provides a nice backdrop. I've never seen this cluster posted here before, so here it is...

Details: The Hyades Starcluster 15th December 2006, Canon 300D, Canon EF 85mm lens at f4.5, ISO 800, Single 3 minute exposure

That is a trul majestic picture Keith, you really got this camera-only exposure thing off to a tee! I love the twinkle in Aldebaran! Nice touch. That picture is poster material in my opinion.

Have you considered using a softening filter to make the brighter stars become more apparent? Just crossed my mind that this might make your stunning image totally mindblowing!
