Hi Keith,

You need more frames!

Nice shot but could be great!

Later,

Jed.

Very nice image Keith. You also captured NGC 1647, an open cluster just to the upper left of Aldebaran. The cluster is visible in binoculars and is 1,800 light-years distant. Another Taurus cluster within the "horns" is NGC 1746. Again, it's a binocular object. Both are often overlooked in favour of M45, M1, and the Hyades.

All the best to everyone for Christmas and the New Year!

John

I'm actually a bit disappointed with this, and will definitely try again!

Have you considered using a softening filter

And all natural too :) Courtesy of the lens stopped down a little.

Hi Keith,

re: a softening filter, a trick many years ago was to stretch a pair of nylon tights over the lens ;-)

So that's you're excuse now John for shopping in the women's clothing department, is it?....you'll have to come up with a better excuse than "softening filters" I'm afraid!

Really!, I'm impressed, it looks like you had a few strings across the lens.
