M81 & M82 15/12/06

Hi all,

Looks like everyone was out last night. I got the H16 back from Starlight Express and the blooming is now gone with the higher rated capacitor. Tested it last night and took this image:

Not overly happy with this because I had a lot of problems with dew forming on the camera window (filter wheel is an open system) and had to keep running out with my wifes hair dryer. Seeing was not great either.

I spent 1 1/2 hours tonight trying to drift align the lx200 only to have clouds start to come in. I got so frustrated that I gave up and it can wait for a better night.

I know how you feel re the clouds. Similar experience tonight.

I was not happy because the focus was a bit soft and I did not get enough red in M82.

Micheal, really nice images you posted. Where did you get the Pentax from? I might get one of the 75 or 100SDUF next year when the credit card has been paid off.

I've still a ways to go before I get really good images from it but I do believe it is a great scope - just needs a good operator! :0)
