Winter solstice sun at midday was created by dave_lillis
Hi,
The clouds have parted and I had a fine clear sky this morning and decided to have a look at the sun, so I put the solar filter on the scope and took 120 images of the sun, 60 of the northern half and 60 of the southern half, I then stacked them in registax and then merged them in photoshop.
Equip = 12"lx200+f6.3 focal reducer, thousand oaks type2+ full aperture solar filter, canon 300D at iso100 using 100sec exposure.
there are no sunspots visible and it makes for a featureless image, not much I can do about that.
This is about 157k, sorry to the dial up people, this is a not small.

Still nice to see the ole orange glowing ball of plasma all the same, with or without sunspots Dave!

You sure that's not just an amber light from the traffic lights?
Shame about the lack of activity at present, a few big sunspots really would have made that image.
