Window opens on M33

I had a brief window of clear skies on Friday and took this image of M33.

For once the met office got the weather right and the weather window closed half way through the RGB imaging. M33 seems to be my jinx object, last time I tried I had a big dust donut in the middle of the galaxy that the flat field failed to remove.

Nice image Kieran, I like it... lots! The black & white is remarkably fantastic for this galaxy, and the myriad of stars in the foreground gives a sense of perspective too. You could make it bigger, too!

What camera+equipment did you use ??

I used the sxvh16 camera with the skywatcher 80ed piggy backed on 10" LX200. I am still waiting on a counter balance system and I kept getting gear slippage during the imaging. The fine detail has been lost because ther was a slight haze in the air even between clouds.

great image, the spiral arms are very obvious as are the halpha regions.

Kieran - that's a super shot given the mechanical and meteorological conditions! I can make out what looks like a miniscule bit of coma or tracking egginess in the corners but that's me being really picky Though I'm sure you appreciate contructive feedback so you can go and wow us more the next time
