I don't know but this might help some of you when you
are trying to get rough focus using a webcam.

First focus on a bright star using a 25mm or thereabouts eyepiece.
Then change the eyepiece to a higher mag one.
(but one that will ultimatly be of lesser mag than the webcam, this will all depend on the scope etc)

Focus using the higher mag eyepiece.
Now put in the webcam and focus the star as best you can.
Now put the higher mag eyepiece back in and move it in or out
and get the focus right.
Then mark the ring of the eyepiece with a marker or whatever.
This should roughly match the focus of the webcam.

So the next time you want to focus quickly center your object as before and then put in the marked eyepiece and set it to the line.

Hi Frank and Matthew,

Here is what I do, to get focused is very simple if you have say a 32MM eyepiece focused on the moon, move the eyepiece out about the with of your finger and then refocus then put in your webcam and do a fine focus simple. do the same with the barlow 2&3 :D
i call it get focused in 30sec.

What I do is make certain the the planet is in the centre of the fov with a medium power eyepiece, then you know when you put in the webcam that after a few turns of the focuser dial, it'll pop into view.
