Dave --
Seeing was excellent up in Louth -- I recorded Pickering 8, which is the best I've ever seen here (to the sum total of 3 nights in the last 2 years).
Got dewed out (I haven't fixed my sheared dew-heater cable yet), used the hair dryer, and then got fogged out! Still, 2 hours of nothing but Saturn, and some of the best views of the planet's disk I've ever had!

Thanks for the replies folks. I'm betting that my software settings are wrong.
Focus - could be that but I have to say my asteroid images are looking pretty tight. Even if they weren't, its no big deal for astrometry and minor photometry.
Dew - certainly my strip struggles to keep up. I was thinking of getting a second one (14" of corrector plate is one big chunk).
Wacky baccy - nah
Cheers
Dave

Fog's rolling in like crazy here. I just checked the corrector - clean as a whistle.
I'll check the software setting tomorrow.
Thanks again for all the help folks.

Dave,
I was hoping for a good nights observing here in Shannon but
tonight is dissapointing,
Along with the moon there is a wealth of moisture in the air
which makes for pretty twinkley stars but as you can guess ...bad seeing.
I'm hitting the hay!!

Dave
Sorry late post - I was getting 5 - 6 " seeing. Ive taken some Saturn imgs and theyre not great. Checked in work b4 I left and it looks like (as usual) the jet stream is sitting nearly over us. This gives fast high altitude wins that wrecks seeing while on the grnd we may be getting fog. Pete lawerence has a good link to a seeing site that is usually fairly accurate.

Funny thing the seeing here tonight.,
Yesterday it was average-poor, but tonight it became good to very good as the night went on, I got my best view of saturn by a mile tonight, although I cant quantify it in arc seconds.
