Saturn passing the moon + saturn closeup was created by dave_lillis
Hi All,
After recovering for a marathon observing session of Friday night Saturday morning, I finally dragged myself to the computer to process these images,

This one is of Saturn passing the moon on Friday night, the image of Saturn has been enhanced to make it more visible.
Moon exposures were 1/100 sec at iso200, 12"lx200 + canon 300D.

This one of Saturn close-up, using a webcam + 12"lx200 + 3x barlow, 1400 frames out of 2000 frame avi were stacked in registax.

This image was resized but its brightness was unaltered and it just about shows Saturn while not overexposing the moon showing that Saturn is considerably fainter then the lunar surface.

It was fun, I'm really looking forward to the March lunar eclipse :P

great images... so much detail.

I need to save money to replace my 4-inch scope with a bigger one ...

Thanks for the kind words guys.
I have to say it was a real novelty seeing this, I don't remember seeing a planet so near the moon before, I was either clouded out or there was something else on.
This is how I explained to one of the friends in the observatory the distance scale of what he was seeing in the eyepiece.
"if the moon was 1 meter away and about the size of a marble, then saturn+ rings would be a meter wide at a distance of ~3200km away !"
