Venus and Mercury over Dundalk Bay - 2nd Feb 2007

Took this shot yesterday at 6.36pm. My camera - an Olympus C-460ZdelSol, was mounted on a tripod and the shot was taken using the camera's "night mode" which I estimate was a 2 second exposure. Anyway, despite the modest equipment, I'm quite pleased to have caught the two inner planets in the one frame.

Hi pat,
well done on the image, it was great to get a look at venus and mercury like that, it's not very often we get we get a chance see them together,i was out looking at them until they set. it was great to view.

Good one Pat,
That's how I saw it during the week also, its really surprising to see Mercury so high, I don't remember seeing it this high for a long time now.

I think the number of Irish astronomers who have ever seen Mercury has gone up by a factor of 10x in the past week.
