Archimedes & the Apennine mountains was created by carlobeirnes
On the trail of apollo15

This is were apollo 15 took david scott & james irwing,with alfred worden in the cammand module endeavour, on the first 'high risk' mission to the apennine monuntain range.scot and irwing landed on 30 july 1971 in there lem falcon. with the first 'lunar jeep' during their 66hours on the moon,the two collected 77kg of rock from depths of as much as 2 m, the 2 visted hadley rille, and left a seismometer and a laser reflector.

25th February 2007, New Haven Observatory, Balbriggan. CGE 14" @ f/11. Lumenera SkyYnx 2.0. Astronomik Red Filter. Processing Registax v4, CS2, and Images Plus 2.8 (Adaptive Lucy-Richardson). i captured 3000 frames 1500 used at 35 frames per sec.

Only have one word for this.... Stunning.

I love the shadows on some of the peaks and the image sharpness is spot on.

Couple of line defects on the left hand side but does not detract from the overall image.

Carl, that's one of the best lunar images I have seen. The detail is, well, stunning as Kieran said. Would love to be able to get results like that :P

Stunning.

Incidentally all of the Apollo Moon missions were "high risk".
To the point of being suicidal.
