resizing images was created by fguihen
i know its not an astrophotography question, but i have a question relating to photos on the hubble site. my laptop has a resolution of 1440 x 900 . these proportions are not availiable in the most desktops, especially the ones i want on the hubble site. using photoshop, is it possible to resize those images for my desktop, without them looking skewed or stretched ?

You'd have to crop them. Slice off the bits above and below to make them wide-screen. I have the same problem with my resolution of 1680x1050

Yup. But you should be able to get HST ones that big.

The other option is to blow th image up (but keep the aspect ratio the same) and then crop it. This won't give as nice an image but it will work without time image becoming skewed or stretched or distorted.

Bart.
