Jupiter and moons from Portugal was created by Frank Ryan
Heres a quick snap I took of Jupiter showing four moons with a canon 350D
through my ETX 125.

I was surprised at the level of detail the camera picked up,
for one shot but thats not surprising as the weather and seeing is awsome here in Portugal at the moment.

I also got around to processing one of the many avi's I got
last week (before the rain came!)
It's a 2min capture with an SPC9000 webcam & the ETX.

Good bit of detail visable.
I was surprised at the faint almost salmon colour of the GRS.
My first time seeing Jupiter in any half decent seeing and
I have to say I know now why its 'the King!'
Rock on baby!

I've also a little movie made of the transit of the GRS but I haven't a clue
were to post it up on the web.
Anyone any ideas?

Excellent image Frank, there is nothing RED about the GRS.
You brought the ETX125 on your honeymoon, that must have been an interesting conversation.

What's that in your bag, a present for me ??
Nope, its my ETX125

I think those are the first Jupiter images posted here this Jupiter season ... what a great start ... you've really set the bar!

Here's a reworking of the same AVI.
I think thats the best I can get from what I have.
The weather down there turned nasty in the second week
so I really only got 2 good nights focusing on Jupiter.

Anyway bellow its regular size and smaller.
Let me know what ye think,
as in which looks better or could there be any adjustments made to
improve them.

Just on a funny note.
The X-Ray guys at the airport in Portugal
had a hissy fit when my scope & flight case went through the machine.
They got all jittery and called in superiors and there was very
animated discussions going on as they all huddled around the screen..
Next question obviously enough that came from them was,
''Can you tell us exactly just what is in this briefcase sir!?''
Well the answer from me,
''Telescopeo''
didn't seem to do the trick as they proceeded to open and check every
square inch of the flight case.

I couldn't understand at first why they were making such a big deal
about it but then I cought a look at the X-Ray image they were lookin at,
(which looked something like this)

I reckon they were thinking,
''Yeah right! Telescopio!, More like El Bomb-io!''

:D
