Yesterday's Sunset & Venus was created by voyager
I'm at home in my parents place in Cavan ATM and I brought along my new Nikon D40. There was a nice sunset yesterday evening so I decided to make the most of the nice countryside scenery and nature's light show.
I was hoping for another similar opportunity today but the clouds have just started rolling in

Both are nice but the first gets my vote. It could even be a sunrise.
How are you finding the D40? Any ability to stick on a small refractor? Or even a big one!?
Cheers
Dave

Saddly it's not the view from my garden, though it is a view from the site where my very lucky brother is building a house. He'll have that view from his sitting room and from the balcony off his bedroom .... talk about finding the perfect site!

I'm absolutely loving the D40. It's the best 800 lids I ever spent! I really have no complaints about it other than very very minor UI issues which can be easily over-come. I used to take all my pics with a fully manual SLR (an Olympus OM1 from the late 70s) so I like having full control over my pictures. When I stick the D40 in fully manual mode it's just like old times except I can take over a thousand pictures on one 'roll' and I can instantly see if I nailed the shot I wanted .... well ... kinda anyhow .... those two shots are the best two out of 155 I took!
Also, when not trying tricky stuff I just flip the D40 in to fully automatic mode and let it take stunning pictures almost instantly with no messing with long delays that make you miss your shot with cheap point and shoot digi cams.
When I'm not taking pics of the sky I really like taking pics of the other great beauties nature gives us, flowers. So far the D40 has just blown me away with just about every plant I've attempted to snap, and all using the fully automatic Macro setting! The only thing I occasionally have to do is manually set the flash for things like ferns which live in forests and come out looking the wrong shade of green without the flash!
you know something ... I should really do a review of the D40 on my blog!
