Hi All,
Here is an image 2 frame mosaic of a waxing crescent moon 2.95 days old. Altitude 13deg taken at 22.25 on 17th June 07. Sun was just 4degs below the horizon. The image still a bit dark but i'm working on it.
Celestron 80ED and lumenera skynyx 2.0 at 15fps, processed in registax v4. and photoshop. New Haven Observatory, Balbriggan.

Thats a super image Carl of such a young moon.
I don't know can you see on your screen but on the left hand side
there seems to be a darker collum that is about a quarter of the page wide
and its edges are pixelated.

Some fine detail is visible there Carl,
Like Frank says above there seems to be some very visible photoshop work done to the left hand side of the image, looks like it was coloured in, maybe increase your monitor brightness/contrast to see it?

Great shot, very similar to my own I took a while back.
The artifacts look quite like jpeg compression, the banding of near blacks. A simple black/white point will make the blacks black again.
