That rivals if not probably betters the resolution and detail Peach as gotten to date.
Amazing work!

Check the photos of Damian Peach.

For me, Bird takes the crown on Jupiter. Amazing amount of detail.

Dave.

Big time, simply a fantastic image !

Bird,

We are privledged that you share these wonderful images with us. Thank you. Simply magnificent. I will say it is as good as any I have seen. I will not get into comparisons with other imagers. I don't think that is constructive or fair for anyone.

Terrific. Seanie, I'd give this one 6 stars out of 5 :)

Regards and Clear Skies,

Dave.

Thanks for the positive feedback guys, it's certainly great fun to keep finding such good seeing around here even in winter.

This is a very challenging part of astronomy, personally I just look at my own (older) images and if I can see that I'm improving then I'm happy. There are too many variables involved to compare with other people.

I still consider Damian to be setting the standard on his trips to Barbados. In the meantime however I'm happy to get this sort of result from just outside my back door :-)

regards, Bird

I've made a short set of 3 video clips, for each of red, green and blue from the raw data for this image for those of you who have more bandwidth than you can use :-)

You'll find links to the 3 avi files here:

www.acquerra.com.au/astro/gallery/jupiter/index.live

Click on the link to the 20070722 image and you'll see 3 avi files, each one is about 4Mb in size.

ps, I used Xvid as the codec, if media player doesn't understand it you may have to install the free divx player and codecs from www.divx.com

The video quality is not great, but I tried to find a good tradeoff between small size and showing enough detail that you could get a feel for the seeing.

regards, Bird
