M31 in moonlight was created by phoenix
With the moon last night I had not planned on doing any imaging. I went out to see if I could see any meteor activity and found that seeing conditions were near perfect with pinpoint stars and even only a slight twinkle to the stars closer to the horizon. I thought, sod the moon I'll have a go at M31 just to see what I'd get. I took 5x10 minute luminance images at full resolution. Heres the image link.

Excellent work Kieran, you've even got detail in M110 which is excellent in the circumstances.

Which of your scopes did you use for this image?

Clear skies,

Paul.

Amazing image.

Thirty years ago an image like that would be on the cover of the most popular astronomy magazines and the realm of the high end amateur with a lot of money or professional.

Congrats.

Great image Kieran.
A few more frames and you'd be able to push the processing a bit more and get more contrast. Excellent detail for only 5 frames.

Michael you just reminded me that I had taken 22 x 1 minute exposures in case the 10 minute shots burned out the core. The link below is the 5 minute and 1 minute exposures combined.
