M71 Globular Cluster in Sagitta was created by ayiomamitis
Dear friends ... and especially Seanie,
One globular cluster which is quite overlooked is M71 in Sagitta. Although at one time there existed some dispute amongst the astronomy community as to whether this cluster was an open cluster or not, it is now established that M71 is a loose globular cluster.
Aside from being an impressive cluster by its own right, it also lies in a rich area of the sky. For an image based on 2 hours total exposure, I kindly direct you to www.perseus.gr/Astro-DSO-NGC-6838.htm ... please remember to left-mouse click on the hyperlinked image so as to see the same image but with much better analysis.

Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better programs, and the universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the universe is winning.

Another winner Anthony, as stated it sits in a crowded part of the sky, could this be the reason that it was never classified as a globular, as they are generally located away from the Milky Way?

Woo-hoo!
An awful lot of stars there Nick, I mean Anto. The clarity and sharpness in detail is amazing considering the wash of dots in it, even in the full size version. Does look strong in the green colour band though. Apart from that - perfect!
