M27 and M92 Experiments in Virginia was created by DeirdreKelleghan
This is an experiment in astronomical sketching using new methods with conte and pastel. This was done through David Branigan's telescope last weekend, many thanks to David for the view.
Lx90 8' SCT, UHC Narrowband filter/2000FL/26mm/77X
04/08/2007 Virginia Co Cavan
22:00 UT - 22:50 UT
M27 in Vulpecula
Crushed Conte/ White Pencil/ Black Pastel/300gm Black Paper
M92, also an experiment, done through Michael Murphy's lovely scope, as John Murphy pointed out dew was a problem for viewing and for me the damp was a problem for my paper .
Nexstar GPS 11/2800mmFL/40mm/70 X
04/08/2007 Virginia Co Cavan
23:30UT - 00:00 UT
M92 in Hercules
Crushed Conte/ White Pencil/300gm Black Paper
Big scope
Many thanks to Michael for the use of his telescope, and to John, David, and Michael, for a fun evening of deep sky observing.
I have plans to develop my method further and produce more DSO's in conte and pastel.

Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better programs, and the universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the universe is winning.

Great renderings. I really like the sketch of M27 and the details you've managed to pick up.

Very nice Deirdre, There's a real sense of the view through the scope from these. I for one would like to see more deep sky objects sketched like this.
Congrats.
