I have a Sigma APO 75-300 bought in 1994 and I carried out some tests comparing that with my Minolta "Beercan" 70-210 f4 which is a very much sought after lens - and the Sigma is at least as sharp in the middle though the Minolta has it beat in smoothness of tonality - ie it takes nicer looking pictures. The Sigmas are not bad lenses as long as they don't fall apart as a mate's did. There is the aperture problem of course!

Clear skies,

Paul.

Yeah Paul, I find the aperture a problem with this lens only when shooting deepsky, but for close up's of anything else it's actually not bad.

I'd love a Canon ef 70-200mm f4 'L' lens :P I've heard it is a fantastic lens for astrophotgraphy.
I guess that I am so used to using prime lenses, a canon 50mm f1.8, and the 85mm f1.8, those are excellent.

I'd love to see a shot with the 'beercan' :P

Keith..
