The Lagoon Nebula from Cloon Wood was created by DeirdreKelleghan
Here are a few images I sketched at Cloon Wood in Enniskerry on Friday night.
I met Michael Murphy and his Nexstar 11, to be a guest sketcher using his telescope.
My dob never got out of the car as Jupiter was dropping like a stone and I had to try and grab her before she vanished into the hills. I only managed a few details on the north of the planet as my eyes could pick out nothing at all from the south.
My Jupiter sketch was further interrupted by a group of likely lads from suburbia who got themselves lost in the hills They stopped by for directions and got to see the gas giant and her moons, so a little sidewalk astronomy at the edge of the forest.
Michael and I had a look at several M objects and I sketched the ones that stood out for me or that I did not have already.
Many thanks to Michael for the use of his telescope at Cloon Wood.

Altitude 10 degrees/ Seeing 2/ atmosphere terrible, nothing to see on the south of the planet as she sat in an atmospheric soup. Probably nuts to try for it so low, figured it was my last chance to grap it this year.

That's wonderful work Deirdre, very inspirational!
I think I took up photography when I realised I was no good at drawing

Very good Deirdre.
