Yet another prom was created by TrevorDurity
Here's another prom, taken at lunchtime today. Visually it's very nice through the PST. Quite an odd shape to this one.
Had alot of problems with focus on this one.

Disc is still blank - actually I haven't seen a sunspot since around May or June I think, but we haven't had much opportunity to look due to clouds.

Anyhoo, here it is:
Taken with the PST, B&W Toucam & TV 5x Powermate. 1400 frames.

Cheers,

Trev

I really like that one Trevor. There's a good depth to the image. I don't know if you have ever answered this before, but are you taking artistic licence with the background colours at all?

Cheers guys.
Hey Seanie, it was actually captured in black and white since the mono toucam is far more sensitive than the colour one & h-alpha is essentially mono anyway. I then play around with the curves until I get near the colour that I would see through the scope anyway. The solar disc is blanked out because there was nothing of interest there today and the PST doesn't have a small enough bandpass to really do it justice.

The background (behind the prom) would not normally be so bright though, it's an artifact of having to use high gain in order to capture the prom. that part would normally look far darker.

Heck Trevor, it still has a very natural colour disposition to it.
