The men in the Moon was created by Frank Ryan
For just a bit of fun..!!!

While observing the outburst of comet 17P/Holmes last night through Dave's 20'' Dob we turned the scope on the moon and this popped up on the wall next to us.
It was so bright it was unreal.

That was gas, it was so clear on the wall, you could see Copernicus, Tycho, Aristarchus and more as well as all the seas. Did any of the other pics come out clearer Frank ?
And what about the actual view through that eyepiece, the sheer detail !

I hope you didn't actually look through the eyepiece. You're night vision would be ruined for a week! I've been looking at the Moon the last couple of nights with the 16". Dazzling or what!

Ahhh nah Mike...
Belt away with the 'captions' for the shot!
It's only a bit of craic!

As for night vision!
Holy cow.
It was practically daylight down there with the full moon anyway...
When we turned the scope on the Moon,
there was a beam of light, no joke, brighter than a flashlight
bouncing off the secondary.

The projection on the wall was like an image being projected
on an overhead projector!

When we did look through the eyepiece it was like being blinded!
After that I literally couldn't see my hand in front of my face with
my observing eye for a few min!

Observing the Moon through Dave's 20'' Obsession is the closest thing
you will get to looking out an Apollo window.
