i found a lxd75 mount and tripod. i saw a picture of an etx 125 on a lxd75 mount. also i think im getting a canon 350d as a gift. i think this will work for an astrophotography setup. any comments or suggestions are welcome.

yeah for sure, im just getting really frustrated with the etx mount, i see all these brilliant deep sky images, taken with the etx125, but most of them are piggy backed on a lx200, then i started looking at lxd75 deep sky images. also very nice, round stars the lot. so i started looking for a mount and found this image www.weasner.com/etx/techtips/2006/kevin/DSC_35112.jpg i found a guy on astromart who has one but its a bit pricey. going to get though, i have to save my pennies first. any way ill keep you up to speed on the project.

well it took a little while but my mount showed up. it has been very well stored for some time. no rust or obvious damage. i got hold of a lxd75 dovetail bar and was able to mount the scope. i did however have to drill oversize one of the two mount holes on the dovetail (one of the two in the center) so they would line up with the tripod mount holes on the scope rear cell cover. also made some adjustments to the worm drive end play, and worm gear ring gear interface. i then trained the drives as described in my previous post. the viewing is sooooo much better than the standard fork. i have not yet had a chance to do any deep sky stuff. as i dont yet have a suitable camera. i did some lpi and the mount performed very well. i think with some fine tuning of my polar alignment skills, and maybe autoguiding i will have a setup worthy of at least orion. i will post photos as they come, well that is if they pass muster!

Fair Play!
I'll be getting a new scope in the new year myself but I'll
defiantly be keeping the OTA from ETX.
It's a super scope optically.
