Astrotrac was created by Frank Ryan
I was going to make a barn door tracker but life is too short and
I'm just gonna buy an Astrotrac insted.
Anyone here ever used one?
If so what ya make of it?

I plan on doing some traveling in the next few years to places
where the Astrotrac would be dead handy for widefield shots
and not a pain to transport.

I've been doing some digging and I see long with the actual Astrotrac
you need a sturdy mount and a good gear head.
I've pretty much settled on the tripod....
any one any thoughts on the gear head?

I think if you search back along these boards far enough, someone did make a barndoor tracker. Also, Someone else did buy an Astrotrac too. See what a search here gives you.
