Ive always enjoyed looking at the amazing photos you guys post here, and recently i got a webcam to image the planets. Ive just discovered getting even a bad image is extreemly difficult, and it just demonstrates the level of expirience it must take to get your terriffic shots! Learning to use the GoTo correctly, trying to focus, trying not to overexpose, there is so much going on. I tried mars but all i got was an avi of an overexposed white ball.
so Well done all!!!!!

Here here! I take precious few astronomical images but I lost love looking at the fantastic shots posted here. A real joy to behold!

One exploit I would have hoped to have been 'abused' more in this aspect was the monthly astrophotography competition. It is just for fun, but considering the amount of budding astrophotographers here, I'd love to see more images submitted.
It is also a great learning curve. When I look at the pretty pictures, I also note what they were using, the type of exposure times and settings, and so on. Now I am getting close to mimicking some set up (via a 350D and a Skywatcher 80ED), so I hope to also be a positive contributor sometime too.

I have to agree with the sentiment of this thread. All your images really bring the heavens that much closer to many of us who just see the same things through low power telescopes (but we are still happy campers...........even though your pics make us realize just how much we are missing).
