M42 in Narrowband was created by Gary Clarke
Hi,

Being a good night last night (Thurs) I captured 3.5 hours of narrowband data of M42, with the (almost) full Moon int he sky. Here's the result;

Details: Clonee Observatory Dublin. Total of 3.5hours data in H-Alpha, SII, OIII, taken through a Williams ZS 80EDII, piggybacked on a CGE 11. Self guided with the SBIG ST8-XME. Processing, Images Plus, Maxim, CS2.

Regards,

Gary.

Besides the big moon, you omitted Dublin's light pollution.
The detail in the nebula is just amazing, all those swirls and arcs, fantastic!.
Can I ask whey is the nebula the colour you have it at ? Its unusual but doest take away from it at all.

Lovely image Gary.
Just goes to show you what can be achieved even from a light polluted area like Dublin. Gary, Dave, Carl, I don't know how you do it (but keep it up).

Fab image Gary.
Out of curiosity, was there much difference in image brightness betwen the different filters?

Man, first IC 410, and now M42, in narrowband... the colours are amazing. The filament detail perfect in there Gary. There is some RGB artefacts you might try taking out with a little Photoshop (star trails??). Some of the Trapezium stars look a little over exposed, but that could be just me. Other than that, superb.

Gary, It feels like you are falling in to it, the detail is very good. Well done on fighting the moon also!
