Just as an update,
I did an actual comparison for the time we imaged to see the actual
view on offer.
We picked up more than I thought.
The obvious albedo features:
Syrtis Major to the right.
Mare Tyrrhenum across the top.
Utopia at the bottom.

Then the light area of Chaos next to the dark line of
Hyblaeus Extension at roughly the 7 O clock position.
(remember how bright Chaos seemed thought the scope?)

I did a little digging also with regards to the stacking of the images,
I came across one imager that stacks 5 Min - 9 Min worth of AVIs.
Apparently for him 9 min is the max before he gets Palnetry rotation
in the image.
He also has to rip out the individual images using a free app on the web to avoid the 1mb limit of the AVI.

Like you said Dave....
all this imaging lark seems like WORK!
:D

Gents,

That is one fine result! When you have a chance, take a look at the work that Wes Higgins has done using an 18" Obsession ... you will be very impressed.

Both of you are on the right track turning this light bucket against Mars and the moon .... now add a high-speed firewire camera ( ) and you will be golden.

Its not work Frank, its hard work !
It'll take over your life if you let it !

There is certainly alot more detail in the images then there seemed thought at first, not get off the laptop and buy those Christmas presents you've been putting off.

His planetary work is excellent but ....

... his lunar imaging is exceptional and probably second to none!

I really must get a life! :D

Is there anything better than astronomy and astrophotography?!
