Hi all,

I aint taking any pics at the moment i have a camera for my Orion my question is do you need to take a course in photography to be able to do astro-photography?? reading some of the topics and posts where people are speaking about cameras/softwear/exposure etc etc its greek to me!!

im more into visual at the moment as im learning the night sky but some of the pics posted kinda give you some insperation to give it a go

Nope, no course needed just practice and patience and asking lots of questions on here :-)

What camera have you?

If you're not too familiar with exposure and aperture then you can learn about that from regular daylight photography.

O god :oops: i dont know what it is it aint a camera as what youd buy in the shop its weird looking i think its for a computer and actually made for fitting on scopes...it has a lead onit to plug into a laptop

I wish this was the case but regrettably it isn't so.

Photography and astrophotography are different animals with different requirements, challenges and issues.

Best way to get into astrophotography is by pulling up your sleeves and jumping in head first. Start with something simple such as star trails photos so that you will acquaint yourself with some basic issues which are present in all type of astrophotographical situations (ex. focusing on very dim points of light).

If you are willing to experiment, to make lots of mistakes and learn from them, research things out for yourself and especially be willoing to read, you will go a long way in this field.

Just my personal opinion but one of the best aspects about this preoccupation is the experimentation, trial and error, and self-learning. :!:
