Orion 500mm Lens was created by wellbuttie
Hi all

I tinkered with putting my Sigma 170 - 500mm lens on the 350D piggy backed on the CGE. The target last night was Orion. Here is the result of Stacking several 30 Sec (For the Trap), 90 and 120 Sec shots too.

A unique image there Steve.
That looks like you used an O3 filter and you have some read in there also, maybe H-alpha ??

Thanks all.... I have still a long way to go.

For the camera I used the Astronomik "Clip in" CLS Filter, between the lens and sensor.

Dave, in the meantime, I used the O3 filter (with a focal reducer) for the visual end of things, for quick looks in between the Subs.

I must try and do some O3 images of the Trap when the weather and work allow

Super image there Steve. I like the filament detail seen in the larger image, but the smaller image is perfect for more normal-looking stars (slight trailing?). The O3 filter adds an eeries green to the image overall, but brings out the detail nicely.
