Image editing software was created by Dread
I see many people here are using PhotoSh0p for image editing. I've been checking on-line and it is pretty expensive. What's the story? (This is about as delicate as I can put the question  )

Down with vwls.

Depends what version. Yes, Photoshop CS3 can cost over £2000 with all the bells and whistles, but that's a photo editor, video editor and website development kit. But more sensibly I use Photoshop Elements 5 which cost £60 nd is easily addable to as it takes all the plugins made for the full version, many of which are free.

There are lots of free packages out there. The Gimp is pretty good but hard to learn. Paint Shop Pro is good and cheaper than photoshop. Consider that if you buy a 'slightly dodgy' copy on line you are giving your credit card to people who have no problem stealing software and selling it. Imaging what they might do with your credit card details?

Remember a lot of stuff is free and you could do worse than use a lot of it.

Photoshop is very dear alright.

My latest laptop came with Photoshop Elements 2 pre-installed. (Yes, version 2. Copyright circa 2002.)

Since I work for Adobe, I figured I'd just install the full Photoshop (or perhaps a more current Photoshop Elements) the first time I found something that Photoshop Elements 2 couldn't do.

That was several years ago. And I'm still running Photoshop Elements 2....
