Howdy all,

Gloriously clear day today so I pulled the PST & webcam out. Not a huge amount going on but there were some nice small proms visible. First image at f25 & second at f50. Taken with Astronomiser modded B&W SPC900NC on PST on a CG5Goto & around 1400 frames each.

Kicking myself that I didn't have my cam with me yesterday as there were a couple of absolutely enormous detached proms. I think they are the same ones that are displayed here which are decaying (3 times the size yesterday!). Great to still be able to see this stuff even at solar minimum.

A man with much time on his hands! Fab images Trev. It's nice to see some solar images through a scope (from you) again. Been missing that big ole orange ball lately.

Cheers guys. I actually tried imaging the disc as well, my attempt was pretty poor so I dumped it - so much easier to capture the proms
Michael, did you find that the double-stack reduced image brightness by much at all?

thanks,

Trevor

Double-stacking does reduce image brightness alright but is still plenty bright enough for observing. Narrowing the bandpass makes a huge difference to what you can see.
