15minute star trail of Cassiopeia was created by dave_lillis
Hi All,
I was looking back on some old photographs I did a few years back and thought that they might be worth putting up.
This was taken with a Practika DX20 with iso400 film, the 50mm lens was set to F1.8 and the exposure was 15 mins at the top of Gallows Hill near Limerick.
Time 19.12-19.27 on January 27th back in 1992.

the image is slightly damaged as it wasn't looked after too well, If I can find the negatives I'll get it reprinted. Note the satellite and the vignetting.
Here is a closeup of the W itself.

One interesting thing here is the lack of light pollution, the glow in the centre is the milkyway, I didn't use a filter, I didn't have much equipment back then really, I don't think I could get an image at that site like this these days due to the city skyglow. [/url]

Impressive,
there is simply no way you could get an image like that
up there nowadays.

I was thinking to myself...
whats the bright area in the middle..
surely it cant be the milky way!
(before I read your explanation)

It sure is along with a big of edge of field dimming, looking at it now, is that the double cluster to the middle right, I wonder to what magnitude do the stars in this image go down to ?

Is there such a thing as anti star trail software what could correct this image back to a tracked looking image ??
