Albert,
Lovely shot of Trinity there.
I don't have photoshop - though the HDR feature there sounds fantastic and I have seen some stunning results from it.
I use Microsofts Digital image Pro 10, and do a panoramic stitch of the three shots - under, even, and over exposed. This produces beautiful results bringing some pictures to 3D life. For example I shoot pictures of my sister-in-laws paintings for exhibitions, posters and book covers etc and had been struggling to show the details in the oil paintings textures until I read about photoshop HDR techniques. I didn't have Photoshop so I translated the techniques to what software I did have, the result can be stunning. I can't show you the full quality of some because they are too big to load in flickr, but here is one thats just a 3Mb Jpeg (most blow the 5Mb flickr limit). And I've had to reduce the quality of the JPG to even load this one. farm3.static.flickr.com/2367/2232489611_c71b6cbbb5_b.jpg

Because we want the greatest possible dynamic range, it is a good idea to cover as much of the histogram as possible (ie. as far to the right as possible) but wihout clipping (ie. burning).
I always aim for at least 3/4 coverage of the horizontal histogram axis.

Al,
This should mean better dynamic range in images, so lots more colour info to play around with.
That's a nice benefit alright. btw I came across this article recently www.llvj.com/tutorials/expose-right.shtml Basically it says that to get better dynamic range you should expose for the histogram to be to the right rather than the center (as you are usually told to do for correct exposure). More processing of the raw is needed to extract the image correctly but you have more dynamic range. Seems to work ok on the few landscape images I've tried.

I find Auto-Focus works on the Moon and Venus, it's dimmer objects that are problematic.

I know my little digicam aint as high tech as the Cannon....
But i too always use auto-focus on the moon cuz it works. As stated...its the dimmer objects that require manual focus.
