Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better programs, and the universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the universe is winning.

If this galaxy doesn't already have a nickname, can I name it the Doughnut Galaxy?

Just saw this post and had a double take. I thought I was looking at the Sunflower galaxy till I checked out its location and mag. Outstanding Eamonn.

just for a scale of reference on how good Eamon's image is, look at this image of the same object by Spritzer!!
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:NGC2841_3.6_..._microns_spitzer.png
(Note, when i say "good" im not basing it on how complex it was to take the image as im sure it was, or how useful the image would be in scientific analysis, im just looking and saying "Wow, thats a nice picture". also because i have the tiniest idea of how difficult astrophotography is, I can almost begin to appriciate the greatness of this image)
