Hi,

Here's an image I took of saturn last night, is a ton better than my last attempts which were... well lets say worse ;-)

I Used a 2x Barlow and stacked approx 50.

Does taking longer exposure photos work with Planets as well as DSO's?

:-)

Cheers,
Gary.

Thanks!

I used the Celestron Neximage, took about 120 seconds of an AVI, and took the images from that, and then though registax 4 (Which kept on crashing for some reason .. probably a Vista thing!) :-)

I have a canon S3 IS which can take a max 15 second exposure, so am looking forward to giving it a try soon.

Cheers,
G.

The canon would be better at the wide field end of things, piggybacked on your scope, or even at prime focus for some objects. Usually, I need at least 30 to 120 seconds for each shot, but if you take enough at 15 seconds and stack them, I am sure you will get a good result.

The webcam (nextimage) would be better for the planets and moon, as the canon would over expose at 15 seconds exposure.

........ dont mention Vista.........

again..nice image gary, well done
