Moonset over ocean was created by Frank Ryan
I finally got around to processing some of the
shots I took while observing at the coast last week.
As the Moon set I was hoping to catch it sticking out of the water
like a shark fin but the murky horizon made it look more
like a sunset.
Nice effect all the same.

Looks like it would have been a good shot Frank. Thinking about it, I would attempt the shot with a 200 or 300mm lens. You still get a wide-ish field of view, but the zoom in on the Moon might make it more possible for your Jaws effect. Something worth thinking about?
Your Moon looks overexposed anyway. But the capture of the stars looks good.

Hi Seanie,
yip, I had my 300mm lens with me to try and get the Jaws effect
but the best I could get was this:
It's right about there the Moon dissapears behind the murk.
On the other shot the Moon was deliberatly overexposed to pick up the
'Sunset' effect and to show the starfield.
I guess you need perfectly clear horizons with 0 cloud / smoke / whatever
on the horizon.
I was down there again yesterday walking the dog on the beach and
I tried to catch a 'Green Flash' but again was beaten by the murk.
Urrgggg..Murk.
On the upside though, I did manage to catch a sundog
(well, sort of)
*** off topic self indulgent pic!***

Hey Frank,
I was only a few miles away at Spanish Point, the setting sun was nice but lost about 0.5 degrees above the horizon, I was thinking at since the Atlantic air would be clean you'd see it to the horizon. ?!?
Any more pics of that night in Doonbeg ?

Yeah, I don't know why that is.
I'm sure there is a good reason it's just I can't think of any right now.
(evaporation / air quality !?!)
Yeah I have a few more pics of the night, I'll post a few when i get
my head around processing them.
