First Saturn effort was created by cjbigboy
Finally got a chance to try imaging Saturn with lovely clear skies up here in the North, captured 1500 or so frames, nicely in focus now I have the motor focus unit, happy days.... I thought!!!

Until I got inside and realised I'd only captured at 320 x 240 arrrggghhhhh!!!

I know the image is tiny, but I'm quite happy with it for a first effort

What a numpty!

cheers

Hi CJ,
Not a bad first go at all CJ.
Maybe it at the end of the processing in registax you could tone down the saturation abit to reduce the green hue.
For me, I find capturing at 340x480 better the the higher resolutions, if you want a physically bigger planet image then use a barlow.
The focus looks good, I'd say you had good enough seeing to put on a barlow and pump up the image.

I should have said, that the image was taken with my Philips SPC900nc and a 2x barlow, hence my annoyance at doing it at 320x240. The barlow I have is pretty cheap and nasty so I may invest in another, maybe a 2.5x or 3x.

Yes I need to play around a bit more with the settings in registax as it's still a bit hit and miss for me but I'm pleased enough with this effort.

The biggest help to me has been the addition of the motor focus unit as previously when trying to focus by hand, the object would be bouncing around all over the place and I could never achieve sharp focus.

Just looking through a 6mm plossl & 2x barlow last night, saturn was absolutely pin sharp and I could see a fair mount of detail, brilliant!!

cheers
