Anyone trying to photograph the ATV ? was created by Kenny
I hope somebody from IFAS or more importantly SAC
manages to snap a pic of the ATV in space. Weather permitting, I might attempt a go at viewing this ATV object
The ATV is a robotic resupply ship, developed by Europe. With luck it should be launching to the spacestation in the next few days.
click on this link for an artists impression of it
From the above pic you can see the robotic resupply ship is about the size of a Doubledecker Bus. It has large solar panels so I assume it could be between 1 and 0.5 magnitude. It will be traveling fast across the sky like the ISS and other satellites, I'm guessing you will be able to find its flight path on websites like heavens above.
Even if none of us succeed in picturing this object, here's one website you should check
www.iss-tracking.de/images/stationpic.html
On their website this German team have described what's needed for tracking the ISS and Satellites

it has launched
The European Space Agency has carried out the maiden launch of a massive robot freighter designed to rendezvous automatically with the orbital space station.
Object will be visible the next few days at around 05:50 am traveling from West to East at a magnitude of around - 0.5

Thanks for the update Simon.
I'll keep my eyes peeled for this one.
There are a good few passes over us over the next week.
(BTW - your link to SAC in the signature has changed to:
